Naja Marie Aidt

author and poet

Born in Greenland December 24, 1963. Made her debut as a writer in 1991 with her collection of poems, Sålænge jeg er ung [As Long as I'm Young].

Since then, she has published eight additional collections of poetry and three collections of short stories. Furthermore, she has written several plays, children's books, and the screenplay for the movie Strings (2005).

Naja Maria Aidt has received a succession of awards and endowments, most recently the Critics' Choice Award (2006) and the Nordic Council's Literature Award (2008) for her collection of short stories entitled Bavian [Baboon].

All of her short stories have been published in Germany. Vandmærket [The Watermark] (1993) has furthermore been published in Italy, and Bavian [Baboon] is set to be published in Sweden, Norway, Germany, Latvia, France, Canada and the Czech Republic.
